[Kairi's voice sounds a little distant, and there's the lapping sound of water against a boat's side.]

Does anyone else know about - Oh! - About fishing in the cold? No, come back!

[She doesn't really have hands free to search the journal herself right now.]

It broke my line again.

[Kairi can be found out on the lake, piled under blankets, with a makeshift fishing pole and a bucket full of worms. She's caught a few weedy little things.

She wants to catch a big one!]

[Liz is smiling as she shakes her head, but it's not a mocking motion at all, just a smile.]

Like Alaska, no... well, like, I went to Minnesota, once. In the winter... I was visiting my great aunt, and like, it was super cold. All kinds of snow and ice all over the place. But, like, I've always wanted to go someplace like that. I love the cold...

[Her smile is actually going to slip here, and whether or not Kairi can see it, the change is likely audible in her voice.]

Well, I did... cold doesn't, like, make much of a difference when you're a ghost.

[Liz rubs the back of her head as she realizes that she's made Kairi uncomfortable.]

Y-yeah. Like, sorry... I didn't mean to, like, spring it on you in a terrible way or anything. It's just... like... sometimes people can see me here and sometimes they can't. Like, even in the same journal log, you know? Sometimes the same person will see me all the time and like, sometimes never. Sometimes it flip-flops...

[She sighs, but then shrugs, whether seen or not.]

I'm sorry... I didn't mean to, like, be a huge downer on you or anything. It's cool, though! I mean, sometimes being dead is a bummer, but, like, it's not all bad!

[Kairi squints at her book like that will make Liz appear.]

I've never met a ghost before.

So... That means you don't get sunburned.

[If she can't feel cold, she can't feel hot either, right?]

[Liz smiles in relief as Kairi accepts her apology. At her comment, Liz pauses and then laughs, the sound warm and happy.]

I never really thought of it that way... no, no I can't! See? I told you it wasn't all bad!
