When I was little, my grandmother used to tell me a story.

It was about the world disappearing, and being rebuilt in the hearts of children.

It said that no matter how deep the darkness, there would always be light to guide us. And as long as we believed in that, we could never be beaten.

[There is a long silence.]

Do you think it's true here?

Sometimes ya just kinda get lost in the dark for a little while longer than normal, that's all.

It's starting to feel like the darker days last a lot longer here.

[She's smiling. It's not-quite-audible. Astrid's disappeared. All considered, she's very glad Cou's still here.]

[He'd mentioned it when they first met, she thought.]

[Not like she could see it, but he gives a proud nod.]

Yeah! I grew up with the best; the Red Lynx! Treasure, adventure; we could get that any time we wanted! Nothin' was safe from us!

[Granted, he was being a bit of a derp about it considering that piracy in most forms is generally frowned upon in most civilized worlds. But at least to him, it was a rather noble calling.]

Does an air-ship have sails and a mast?

[Now her smile is audible.]

I was thinking of fixing up one of the lifeboats with a sail. Heh, it won't go anywhere, but it could be fun.

[And it's a little different from a tree-house. For one thing, there're no strangler vines growing around the lifeboats.]

[He pauses for a moment, realizing he's never actually described an airship from his world.]

Nah -it's got wings and engines! They can come as small as the two-person lightship-types, goin' all the way up to the HUUUUUGE flying fortresses!

[When she mentions fixing up the lifeboats, he at least gets the sentiment and chuckles.]

If you'd wanna do that, I'm all for it!

Heh, okay! Even if you don't know anything about sails, it will need other things.

[Like a cooler for soda, and cushions or mats... And a small stash of make-shift weapons, just in case.]

So... an air-ship is like a gummi ship?

Uh, I dunno what a gummi ship is. But if yer planning for a boat that needs a sail, I still know a little bit about that.

[If he could read her thoughts, he'd probably comment that a loadout like that would be ideal for a pirate ship.]
