Who said something about bass spawning soon?
[Kairi's voice sounds a little distant, and there's the lapping sound of water against a boat's side.]
Does anyone else know about - Oh! - About fishing in the cold? No, come back!
[She doesn't really have hands free to search the journal herself right now.]
It broke my line again.
[Kairi can be found out on the lake, piled under blankets, with a makeshift fishing pole and a bucket full of worms. She's caught a few weedy little things.
She wants to catch a big one!]

But that's the bass back home, I don't know about here. It depends on the species.
[Audio]
My home doesn't have cold weather like this. I don't know anything about what the fish do when it's cold.
[Which would explain why she hasn't caught anything in a long long time.]
[Audio]
Fish move slow when it's cold. If you're gonna lure them in, you've gotta move slow, too.
You'd probably be more successful if you could just hunt them like normal.
[Audio]
['Normal' for her wasn't normal for everyone else... She thought.]
[Audio]
[He pauses for a second. Then:]
You probably don't have claws.
[Audio]
I used to catch fish from the water with a net, but it's too cold here.
[Though, maybe not for someone with claws.]
Have you been swimming through the winter?
[Audio]
A bit. The water's fine, it's just too cold when I get out of it. Can't get dry fast enough, makes this body sick.

Kairi's sitting cocooned in blankets, a pole hanging over the side of the boat and a slack piece of string dangling into the water.]
Heh, I haven't caught much.
Have you caught anything at all?
[Kairi holds up a fish no bigger than her hand and grins sheepishly. It's so small, it must have been starving to take her bait.]
It's not good for food, heh. I'll probably use it for bait.
[Or at least, she doesn't know how to make a fish that small edible.]
It's fun, but well... It can be annoying.

[She grew up on an island. She should be good at this.
And back home, she was. The tools were just... different here. Who fished with worms?]
Heh, but I could use some company!
[audio]
[audio]
[And well... Okay, maybe she could use the help.]
Heh, do you know how to make the line stronger?
[audio-->commentlog]
You could try shortening the line. Either that or trying folding the line so the weight rests on two lines instead of one.
[She arrives at the lake and looks around for Kairi.]
[audio-->commentlog]
[She's guessing that's Te Ata by the bank.]
I'll row back in.

Videoooo - as always, you're choice if Kairi can see her or not, or if that fluctuates
[She waves, but her smile wilts a bit when she figures that Kairi might not even be able to see her currently. Being a ghost sucked sometimes. :(
BUT SHE PERSEVERES!!]
Did you, like, fish back home?
[Liz knows next to nothing about the outdoors, but she's interested and that counts, right?]
Videooo :D
[Where is she? Is she behind the journal? Or is it broken?]
Sure! Heh, but I like fish here too.
[Wait...
Kairi giggles sheepishly]
I mean, I fished on the islands. But it was never this cold there. I didn't know fish could still live when it was this cold.

[And Liz sounds completely genuine about this. She then purses her lips in thought, head tilting slightly to one side.]
Well, there are, like, some species that live in the cold, I think. Ummm... maybe... I think they, like, had that on National Geographic. Or they, like, hibernate...
[She trails off and then gives a shrug, returning the giggle with one in kind.]
I don't think it's like, just here at the Keep, though. I mean... people fish in, like, Alaska and that's the arctic... whales too.
[LOL... Liz tends to presume people know what she's talking about.]

[Kairi peers at her journal. Where is Liz?]
no subject
Yeah, the arctic... it's, like, way up north and super cold. Parts of, like, Alaska and Canada make it up, you know? I watched this special once where they, like, cut a big hole in the ice to go fishing in the winter.
It was pretty awesome, really! I think, like, it could be super cold, but super fun.
Did you have to cut through the ice?

[She's feeling a little small. There are places where it's winter always?]
It melted.
Have you ever been to a place like that, where it's cold?
